I have not engaged in witchcraft, but I have tried to manipulate God through my prayers. For many years I tried a variety of prayer formats to get what I wanted–what I had decided I had a right to and God should give to me. I bargained, I promised, I followed formulas …
I wanted control. I wanted to make the plans. I wanted the answers to be the answers I had planned on and hoped for. And often they weren’t, and I was sad or frustrated or discouraged or mad.
What I had to do was the same thing Dave’s friend (in his blog below) had to do. Although I knew God, I wanted to be in control. Now I know Almighty God, and I know, believe, and trust in His power and authority. I can’t even do that by myself, and he sends his Spirit to live in me and help me serve him faithfully.

God AlmightyWhen Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am El-Shaddai—‘God Almighty.’ Serve me faithfully and live a blameless life. (Gen. 17:1)
I have a friend who spent quite a few years engaging in witchcraft. She enjoyed the power outside of herself that she could manipulate for her own desires. Then, she met El Shaddai – the All Powerful God – the Supreme Power – and God called her to Himself. She came under El Shaddai’s power and authority…My friend experienced a radical shift: the power of God was no longer a power she could manipulate for her own desires. El Shaddai intends for His children to be in complete submission to His power and authority. I remember her saying, “God is so amazing, I don’t have the capacity in myself to conjure up enough faith, so He sends His Spirit to give me all the faith I need.”
God is speaking to you this morning. He is calling you to quit trying to handle this world with human power or demonic power. He is calling you to submit to His Supreme Power and let Him fill you with faith through His Son Jesus Christ, and by the power of the Holy Spirit. Under His power and authority there is wonderful promise and life.
