How can we know God? We can’t–we run out of knowledge, imagination, and creativity long before we can even reach a small understanding of the great I AM. But he gives us windows to look through so we can see the parts of Him that we need to know through Jesus, the Bible, the Holy Spirit, visions, dreams, prophets … We look at Jesus, and we see God. While we look through the window we can also see ourselves reflected back at us. Looking through the window we see God; looking at our reflection in the window we see ourselves; our purpose is to praise God and bring our reflections to a closer proximity of what we see of Him. Why study the Bible this way? If you take it into your mind and heart enough to translate it into a picture or word, it becomes part of you. If you add a sentence or two of explanation, you then engage another part of your brain which cements God’s words even firmer into your heart and mind. If you want to remember it, you can think of what you drew.
