Making It Clear

REPENT and FORGIVEN— two words often used by Christians, but many listeners have only a fuzzy understanding of what they mean.

I’m a fan of stories and visuals to help me learn and retain understanding. I thought I’d share my style of definitions.

REPENT

FORGIVEN

My friend Marilyn Schuler was praying and asking forgiveness from God from a wrong thing she had done, a sin she had committed that still was on her mind, so she was asking for forgiveness again. She said her conversation with God went like this:

Marilyn: “Lord, please forgive me for what I have done.”

God: “What?”

Marilyn: “You remember. I’ve told you about it before…” And she repeated her shameful story.

God: “I don’t see anything.”

Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me,and I will be whiter than snow. Psalm 51:7
