Colossians 1:1-2 Does God have your attention?

Before his name was changed, Paul was fanatically persecuting and overseeing the killing of Jesus-followers. He was convinced that he was cleansing the world, and he was full of himself and his own importance. It took the drama of a blinding light, a  heavenly voice, and a period of sightless malaise to get his attention. It took a Jesus-follower who trusted God enough to go to Paul and share the gospel. It took years of listening to God in the desert. Then God told him, “You are now ready to carry out my plan for the rest of your life on earth.” And zealous Paul followed God’s master plan. What will it take for God to get your attention?

Colossians 1:1-2 (The Message)

I, Paul, have been sent on special assignment by Christ as part of God’s master plan. Together with my friend Timothy, I greet the Christians and stalwart followers of Christ who live in Colosse. May everything good from God our Father be yours!

Why study the Bible this way? If you take it into your mind and heart enough to translate it into a picture or word, it becomes part of you. If you add a sentence or two of explanation, you then engage another part of your brain which cements God’s words even firmer into your heart and mind. If you want to remember it, you can think of what  you drew.
