Who mixes up names more than anyone else? Mothers do, and I’m a prime example. I’ve even been known to call my children, and now my grandchildren, by the dog’s name…and they’ll never let me forget it.
“When people used the wrong name, overwhelmingly the name that was used was in the same category, it was in the same folder,” said Samantha Deffler, cognitive scientist at Rollins College, in Winter Park, Florida.
