Hagar, Ruth, David, Mary Magdalene

The messages we hear from God’s words are not just for us alone. He has been speaking his love for generations to everyone who turn their face toward Him. He is all we need, and He is with us now and forever we will be with Him.

I see God’s hand often in the flow of information, hope, and love into my life. On Wednesday, my husband forwarded an email to me. It was from Kathie Lee Gifford on a daily devotional by Faith Gateway. She shared these verses:

Enter His gates with thanksgiving
    and His courts with praise;
    give thanks to Him and praise His name.
For the Lord is good and His love endures forever;
    His faithfulness continues through all generations. — Psalm 100:4–5 NIV

“You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.” — Genesis 16:13 NIV

Kathy Lee Gifford and Nicole Mullen met together for a co-writing session. Both are avid Bible studiers, and both came to the meeting having heard whispers from the Holy Spirit about Hagar and the following text from Zechariah.

… will be a wall of fire around her, and I will be the glory in her midst. — Zechariah 2:5 NASB

This modern-day 13-minute oratorio is the result. I heard my husband listening to this, and I stopped what I was doing because it captivated me. This is that message that Abraham and Sarai heard, that Hagar heard. But God didn’t stop talking there. Ruth heard it, David heard it, and Mary Magdalene heard it. So do you. So do I.

So today, multiple times this week, I invite you to sit down for a quiet time with God. He is talking to you through the words of these two women, through their voices, and through his Scriptures. You are hearing Holy Spirit whispers and prompts through your ears, as I am hearing through my own ears.

My prayer is that God touches your heart and soul through this music in the way He touched Abram, Sarai, and Hagar. You, also, are a hero of faith–God has given you what you need. Turn your face toward Him and enter His courts with praise. He’s waiting to hear your voice.
