If I ask God for a sign, am I asking in doubt or in faith?
Gideon asked, multiple times.
God gave him what he needed.
One time the sign was down in the enemy camp, and God said, “Go see it.”
He obeyed, saw it, obeyed again, and the battle was won.
Doubting Thomas asked for a sign.
Jesus gently opened his resurrected body for inspection.
Thomas believed and followed.
God’s people were in crisis,
and God sent his prophet to tell King Ahaz,
“Ask for a sign from God.”
Ahaz declared, “I wouldn’t put God to the test.”
The prophet sputtered, “Will you try the patience of my God also?”
God sent a sign anyway.
Peter in the storm asked, “Rabbi, is it you walking on the waves?”
Jesus offered his hand as a sign
and Peter jumped out of the boat.
After fleeting doubt drenched him,
Peter walked on the water with his Savior.

Sisters faced urgent care-needs for mother
and had no clue.
Prayed together on phone,
and within the hour were back on the phone
in amazement at doors flung open.
God’s signs shone clearly, across the country and into our confusion.
He holds us all in His hands.
I believed the coffee shop was no longer
the place for me to work and be His ambassador.
I went across the street, and phone-computer malfunction,
inexplicably unfixable, frustrated me
until it dawned on me: “Is this a sign? God, you’ll have to show me.”
I re-crossed the street and was immediately assured:
God still wants me here.
Are signs a reassurance of “I am with you always,”
and are they linked with my obedience?
“Lead me, guide me, along the way. For if you lead me I will not stray.
Oh, Lord, let me walk each day with you. Lead me my whole life through.”
