“But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.” (Psalm 1:2, NIV)
How is a Christian like a lizard? Psalm 1:2 is a clue. Still don’t know?
A lizard is a cold-blooded reptile that can’t make its own body heat. Instead, it depends on energy from the sun to warm it. In the early morning, a lizard is so cold it can hardly move. So what does it do? It slowly crawls out into the hot sun to bask a while. When its body is toasty warm, it’s ready for action.
Do you have an answer yet?
Without a daily dose of sun power, a lizard would die from the cold. Without a daily dose of son power, a Christian’s faith becomes cold and dead.
“The Lord is my light and my salvation.” (Psalm 27:1)
If we want to be Christians that walk in the light, if we want to be so Spirit-filled so that it overflows, if we want to bear fruit, we need to spend daily time basking in his light. Otherwise we are a like a lizard in the cold and dark—going nowhere.
