As our spirit encounters life, we form a soul—character, personality, emotions, will, mind, and so on. These structures we erect of heart and mind, character and personality, are what we call the soul.
In some areas our soul has become a beautiful temple through which our spirit can express adoration to the Lord, make beautiful music in praise of Him.
In some areas, our soul is a tank that attacks others.
In some areas, our soul is a fortress that defends us—a heart of stone.
Do you want more of the beautiful temple fill with God’s breath and less of the marauding tank and stone fortress? It is possible.
The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing. Zepheniah 3:17
On our invitation, the living Christ enters into us to fill, energize and vitalize us in with His presence and power, transforming our entire beings into a new heaven and new earth (see Revelation 21:1-2). If we claim the Lord as our God and Savior, then all that is in the Almighty is—by extension—in us. He is at the center of our being, and as much as we are willing and allow, His words will permeate and transform us.
