A Blank Page

Open the Bible and look. What do you see?
Words. Sentences. Paragraphs.
And where do these words come from?
They are God’s word—inspired by the Holy Spirit and written down.
Look again at the Bible. What else do you see?
Nothing, really.
Or, you see a blank page. The page is empty, a white page on which words can be written. It is the contrast of blank (white paper) vs filled (black ink) which allows us to see the words.

This is my paraphrase of a picture from Jonathan Cahn’s Book of Mysteries, and I have been playing with it and adapting it to my life. I am an ambassador for Christ. I represent Him to those around me. So, I want to reflect who He is. However, as an imperfect person in a sinful world, I can’t do this on my own. So, I am using this visual as a motivational tool for transformation: every day I need to become a clean slate so that God’s words can be visible through me.

What do I need to erase? It depends on the day and the circumstance, but it always involves selfish desires, expectations, and attitudes. I need to invite God to write His words on me, to change my “I” to the great “I AM.”

Do I need to erase something? Maybe, I have to actually cut something from the page.
Is my page so vibrantly colored with ME that God’s words are nearly invisible?
Have I asked myself: “What would Jesus do?”
Do I reflect His peace, hope, grace, and love?

I may be the only Bible page that someone reads today. Lord, may your words be clearly visible.
