Colossians 2:16-17 The core

What is the core of my life? If I were to write a mission statement for the next year, what would be the central theme that I base my living on? What inspires my day-to-day actions, words, and thoughts?

Colossians 2:16-17 (New Living Translation)
So don’t let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths. For these rules are only shadows of the reality yet to come. And Christ himself is that reality.

Colossians 2:16-17 (The Message)
So don’t put up with anyone pressuring you in details of diet, worship services, or holy days. All those things are mere shadows cast before what was to come; the substance is Christ.

Why study the Bible this way? If you take it into your mind and heart enough to translate it into a picture or word, it becomes part of you. If you add a sentence or two of explanation, you then engage another part of your brain which cements God’s words even firmer into your heart and mind. If you want to remember it, you can think of what  you drew.
