Prayer and work go hand-in-hand

?????

Pray about everything. Then pray some more. But at some point, we have to quit praying and start acting.
~Mark Batterson in Draw the Circle: The 40 day prayer challenge

Mark Batterson makes the point in Draw the Circle: The 40 day prayer challenge that we get spiritually stuck when we misunderstand our role as followers of Jesus Christ. Sometimes we ask God to do something for us when we should be doing that exact thing for him. Or we judge those around us for their sins, when that is God’s role. The Holy Spirit convicts; God is the judge.

We can’t just pray like it depends on God; we also must work like it depends on us.

What is Christianity–a noun or a verb? This is more than just a grammatical question. Does our Christianity stop at ideas, discussion, Bible studies, and prayer? Or do are actions speak as loudly as our words? And do those actions show what we believe, what we are for, or do they loudly proclaim judgment on what we are against?

When everything is said and done, God won’t say, “Well said, good and faithful servant.” He won’t say, “Well thought,” “well planned,” or even “well prayed.” There is only one commendation He will give: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

So what is your action going to be today?
