I have been wondering lately, how much of what I do is so that people will think good of me? If I am living for God, trying to be someone who reflects His light to the world, why do I feel the need to have my shadow–my silhouette–superimposed on His light? What would it look like to live for him without me-myself-and-I being the center rather than God?
I know the change has to start in my heart and in my mind. So I am saying scripture and singing songs throughout the day that remind me of the center of all things–God. Will my actions need to change also? Will it be a subtle change?
Will anyone notice? Oops. Here I go again–wanting center stage. Forgive me, Lord, and help me to step out of your limelight.
Colossians 3:17 (New Living Translation)
And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.
Colossians 3:17 (The Message)
Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way.
