A champion named Goliath, who was from Gath, came out of the Philistine camp. His height was six cubits and a span. 5 He had a bronze helmet on his head and wore a coat of scale armor of bronze weighing five thousand shekels; 6 on his legs he wore bronze greaves, and a bronze javelin was slung on his back. 7 His spear shaft was like a weaver’s rod, and its iron point weighed six hundred shekels. His shield bearer went ahead of him.
1 Samuel 17:4-7

The Giant Goliath of the Philistines was absolutely massive – over 9 feet tall, and able to crush any other human with a single blow.

How big is your Goliath?

Maybe your Goliath isn’t as large as the original giant, but in your world, it is big enough. Perhaps your Goliath intimidates you and causes you to tremble. Maybe your Goliath steals your joy and consumes your mental and emotional energy. Maybe your Goliath numbs your mind and confuses your morals. How big is your Goliath? Big enough…

Lord Jesus, I am tired of the reality of this Goliath in my life. I am tired of the taunting and intimidation. I am ready to be done with the energy it takes every day just to move around this giant. Today, I choose to let your crush Goliath. I yield my mind to you, my strength to you, my body to you. Use me to shut this Goliath down, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
